DESCRIPTION:We live in a very divided time. When we disagree\, we don’t know how to talk. Christians are called to be peacemakers and speakers of truth. We should be able to model how to have healthy conversations with those with whom we disagree. Yet we struggle just like everyone else. Larry Boyd\, the Lay leader of our church\, will be leading a class called “Biblical Conflict Resolution” . It will help us learn how to communicate with others in positive ways. It will take place on two consecutive Sundays\, May 15 and May 22 at 9:30 am replacing the Bible Hour Class.  Join us as we learn to talk and listen better.

DESCRIPTION:There will be a special all church conference on Sunday\, August 28 at 12:15pm (or asap after worship) in the sanctuary to vote on the matter of whether to authorize the exploration of disaffiliation from The United Methodist Church. District Superintendent Karen Hernandez will preside at the meeting in which all church members will have a voice and vote. \nNote that this meeting cannot result in disaffiliation. Rather a favorable vote (simple majority) at this meeting will allow our church to officially begin discernment regarding disaffiliation and will allow us to request specific information from the Annual Conference regarding the costs of potential disaffiliation.

SUMMARY:Operation Christmas Child Packing Party
DESCRIPTION:Operation Christmas child will be hosting an event called “Assemble the Shoeboxes” on Saturday\, Nov 5 from 2-5PM. By sending boxes\, we are part of proclaiming the Gospel as a demonstration of God’s love in a tangible way to children. Individuals\, families\, or groups may fill boxes. Packing 1 shoebox generally takes 15-30 minutes. You are invited to stay longer. \nOur congregation has done a wonderful job donating items. We are still in need of 33 pencil pouches with closures\, 8 big bars of soap\, 65 wash clothes\, 20 toothbrushes\, 20 toothbrush holders\, all size socks\, and 70 flip-flops. There is a donation barrel around the corner from the Food Pantry box. Thank you for your participation in this congregational event. \nShoebox Shipping Costs\nEach box costs $10 to ship.  Our target for boxes is 200 which will require $2\,000 for mailing.  If you would like to donate for the shipping\, please mark “OCC Shipping” on your check memo line.

SUMMARY:Christmas Eve Candlelight Services
DESCRIPTION:Two Services:  5:30 and 7:00 pm \nWe will be having two services: One at 5:30 pm and the other at 7:00 pm.  Both will be candlelight.  The 5:30 service is geared towards families.  The same message will be delivered at both services.  Childcare will not be available at either service. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The most important event in history was the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We remember and celebrate Christ’s victory over sin and death every Easter.  Easter is so important to the church that we have a period of time called Lent to prepare for it. \nA special service of repentance will be held Wednesday\, February 22nd\, at 7:00 pm.  Many people find this to be one of the most meaningful services we do all year. \nPlease plan to join us for this celebration of the grace and forgiveness of God.

DESCRIPTION:Join us as we collect all year for our 2023 Shoeboxes (mailed in November). These items can be for children ages 2-14. Please remember NO liquids\, toothpaste\, candy/food or war items\, and they need to fit inside a shoebox. \nMarch donation suggestions: Bar soap\, washcloths\, toothbrushes\, toothbrush holders\, hats\, scarves\, gloves and underwear \nWe appreciate your donations.  Drop-off box is provided by the main office. \nRemember that any item can be collected any month!  We are always short on: \n\nCrayons\nColored Pencils\nErasers\nMarbles\nJacks\nOlder Boy items (i.e. balls (air removed)\, fishing kits\, tools (no knifes/saws)\n\n
